Information for Teachers School tours and adventure activities

Planning your school tour?

Make it an unforgettable one and visit the Irish National Heritage Park Ferrycarrig, Wexford, where you will leave the 21st century behind and travel back to the 1st century and beyond. There are 16 sites which depict the settlement of man in Ireland from 7000BC to the Viking invasion. All the sites are authentically furnished to allow you to see first hand what it was really like for our ancestors. Guided tours are available for all prebooked school groups. (Pre-booking is essential!) Please note that due to the large volume of visitors to the park, we request that school groups be supervised at all times by teachers or parents. Please note that the Fulacht Fiadh restaurant’s seating is for the restaurant’s patrons only. Picnic facilities are located to the front of the visitor centre and a sweet shop is available for groups on request.

School Tours events and courses               ” A fantastic tour of the heritage park was had by staff and 1st year students of Adamstown C.C. We were warmly welcomed by staff on a wet and windy day. There is certainly a buzz around the school after the tour. A very enjoyable and highly recommended tour. ” Tom Broderick, Adamstown, Dublin.

Basic School Tour Package

Our 35 acre park allows the student to experience first hand how our ancestors lived. Starting in the middle Stone Age each student is guided through the major changes in Irish history, learning how people worked, lived and died. Interacting with our experienced guides the student will learn about early Irish history through different mediums than normal. Sights, sounds, smell and even taste enable the student to get a truly unique perspective into Early Irish History. Our 90 minute tour begins with a short Audio Visual and culminates at our fantastic Viking House and Boat Yard on the edge of the river Slaney, giving each student an invaluable insight into lifestyle from the Stone Age to the arrival of the Vikings.
