Last year, David Carroll contacted Chris (our Outdoor Park Manager) in relation to finding a home for an ancient tree.
Back in 1986, his father, Michael Carroll discovered an unusual log as he was searching for bog oak. He realized that he had discovered something ancient and decided to send a sample to the USA. The radiocarbon dating revealed that the log dated back to the Bronze Age. This 4000-year-old Scots Pine tree is about 14 foot long.
The Carroll family decided to find a home for it and kindly donated it to us last year. They also helped in financing for the installing of the tree.
On Monday 15th October, we had the official unveiling of our Witness tree. We were delighted to have the extended members of the Carroll family who came especially for the event. The Carroll family planted a new Scots Pine tree alongside our Witness Tree.
