We have over 40 acres of natural woodland, historic sites and trails, family activities, tours and demonstrations, two playgrounds, a visitor centre, restaurant, shop, as well as unique ringfort stayovers. PLAN YOUR VISIT
There are many ways to experience the Irish National Heritage Park, but we suggest you begin with a tour for a unique Irish history experience! Guided tours with a costumed guide run daily and are suitable for families, groups, individuals and educational school tours. You can also explore the Park at your own pace on a self-guided tour. There are three themed heritage tours available – Pre-Historic Ireland, Early Christian Ireland and the Age of Invasion – which together cover over 9000 years of Irish history! Each tour takes you on an unforgettable journey through the past. Step in and explore replicas of historic sites, including a castle, crannóg, Viking house, monastery, and ringfort. Experience life among these ancient sites.
At the Irish National Heritage Park, we invite you to stay and play like it’s 2000 BC! Fully immerse yourself in life long ago with one of our authentic experiences. Book one of our activity-based experiences including archery and axe throwing for a fun and competitive afternoon with friends, family or colleagues. For the ultimate Irish history experience, spend a night in our Medieval ringfort, dressed in period costumes and cook over an open fire! The Park also has a falconry centre and hawk walks where you can meet the birds of prey and interact with these skilled predators.
At the Irish National Heritage Park, you can immerse yourself in learning the skills and traditions of long ago. We run over 60 diverse courses throughout the year where groups or individuals can come to the Park and learn a craft or traditional skill. There’s everything from foraging, flint knapping, pottery and blacksmithing, to more activity-based courses like Medieval combat skills and Viking warrior bootcamp!

At the Irish National Heritage Park, we have all the facilities you need for a great family day out. Stop for a break in the Fulacht Fiadh Restaurant before heading out into the Park again and trying another activity! Our Restaurant serves food all day with seasonal menus based on showcasing the best of local, Irish produce. SHOP AND EAT
Our Falconry centre is located on the Hill of Carrig, and it is a fitting site as the Norman’s were renowned for their falconry skills and would often demand a conquered foes birds of prey as well as their sword. Our resident falconer is Jim O’Connor, he has been working with and breeding birds of prey for over thirty years. He has a wide and varied knowledge of all these birds and if you are lucky enough to meet him you will learn some amazing facts, or will he hoodwink you?
